Balamuruka Kalasamithi is a socio cultural organisation formed by Sri. P.C. Damodaran after completing the practice of art form 'Kavadiyattam' under Sri. Raghavan ( Malabar Special Police ). His debut performance was at Feroke Nalloor Shiva Temple on 1983 November 20th. Since then, till 2013 Balamuruka Kalasamithi has proudly conducted 1176 successful programs on various stages including Shabarimala, Thunchan Parambu, Pazhani, Puttaparthi Sai Baba Mandiram, Guruvayur Temple ( On 'Sree Krishna Jayanthi' ) and Mammiyoor Temple.

In 2011 they were featured by Kairaly TV channel for their famous program 'Sreeramante Veritta Kazhchakal', achored by film actor, writer, TV anchor and social worker Sri. V.K. Sreeraman.

Kavadiyattam
Kavadiyattam is a colourful ritual art performed during the ceremonial worship of Lord Murugan. It literally means dance carrying a kavadi. Kavadies are usually of different sizes and shapes, each with its own significance.

Pookavadi
A Pookavadi is one decorated with brightly coloured artificial flowers. A kavadi can rise up to a height of 10-18 feet.The dancers gradually move in a frenzy, in step with the rising beats of percussion instruments like udukku, chenda etc.

Karakattam
Karakattam is an ancient folk dance of Tamil Nadu performed in praise of the rain goddess Mariamman. The performers balance the water pot on their head very beautifully. Traditionally, this dance is performed in two types - Aatta Karakam is danced with decorated pots on the head and symbolizes joy and happiness and is mainly danced for entertainment, while the Sakthi Karakam is performed only in temples as a spiritual offering

Nadaswaramelam
Nadaswaram is one of the most popular classical musical instruments in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and the world's loudest non-brass acoustic instrument. The instrument is usually played in pairs, and accompanied by a pair of drums called thavil; it can also be accompanied with a drone from a similar oboe called the ottu.

Balamuruka Kalasamithi also performs many other folk art forms.
